Seattle Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Seattle Mariners knocked off the Texas Rangers, 4-3, at Safeco Field. It took 11 innings. Ryan Thompson was a prime reason Seattle won. The left fielder went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Seattle reliever Nick Vincent was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Joe McFarlane took the loss. The Rangers, now 6-10 this season, have struggled to play .500 ball.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jamie D'Antona in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a run-scoring double off 35-year old right-handed pitcher Joe McFarlane to win the game for Seattle. The home crowd went nuts.
Thompson said his team "played with determination."
