Cleveland Still On the Schneid After 3-1 Loss to Yankees
|
The Cleveland Spiders got a sterling performance from pitcher Dan Straily, but the New York Yankees still prevailed, 3-1. Straily threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball. The losses continue to mount for Cleveland, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
New York used a timely hit from Chris Shelton to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Yankees ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"Not to be Captain Obvious," said Cleveland manager Larry Rothschild, "but we need to push more runs across the plate."
