Parra Bashes 5 Base Hits
|
After a 5-hit effort to lead Los Angeles's 12-5 victory over the Arizona Firestorm, left fielder Gerardo Parra told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the BALCO-92-level is really something special."
The 24-year-old player earned his accolades at Chase Field with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Firestorm.
"His swing is getting there," said Dodgers skipper Terry Francona, who spoke glowingly of Parra after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Gerardo did that to perfection."
Gerardo Parra singled in the 1st, hit a two-run triple in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
To date this year, Parra is batting .444 with 3 home runs.
