Cardinals 3-1 Winners Over Florida
|
The St. Louis Cardinals downed the Florida Marlins, 3-1, at Busch Stadium. Stellar pitching by Nick Struck had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 5th in the NL in complete games with 2, handcuffed his opponent all game. Struck yielded no runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 8-12. Sean Gleason earned his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Andre Ethier had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the eighth for St. Louis. He came through with a 2-run single to put St. Louis in front, 3-0.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Ethier.
After today's action, St. Louis sits at 59-71; Florida slips to 78-52.
