Dodgers Fall Short at New York, 4-3
|
Los Angeles got a terrific performance from pitcher Josh Girdley, but it wasn't enough to beat the New York Mets. New York won the Citi Field contest, 4-3. Girdley threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. New York pitcher Tommy Hanson got the win, upping his record to 6-4. Kevin Siegrist got the loss. Bobby Jenks earned the save for New York, his 32nd.
New York took the lead, 4-3, on Andrew McCutchen's 14th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Los Angeles pitcher Kevin Siegrist in the bottom of the eighth.
In postgame remarks, McCutchen hailed his team's "single-minded determination."
Today's win puts New York at 75-51, while Los Angeles falls to 67-61.
