Behind an impressive start by Clint Brannon, Chicago beat Baltimore, 3-0. Brannon, now 11-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Chicago goes to 63-58. The win puts them 3½ games up in their division.
The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the fifth inning, but Brannon was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Baltimore trailing 1-0, Brannon retired Miguel Negron, who flied out.
