Wizards Deal Spiders 6-0 Loss
|
The Washington Wizards faced a tough opponent in Cleveland pitcher Steve Woodard, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Jacobs Field by a final score of 6-0. Woodard went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. Washington reliever Chuck Wanke picked up the win, upping his record to 4-8. Steve Woodard took the loss. The Wizards, at 76-43, have a comfortable 16½-game lead in their division.
Washington took a 3-0 lead on Brad McCann's 36th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Cleveland pitcher Chris Mowday in the top of the ninth.
"We've got a great group of guys," McCann said, "and we're having fun right now."
