Phillies Win in Glorious Fashion, 6-5
|
Philadelphia first baseman Evan Longoria collected 3 ribbies while his team bumped off the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-5, in 12 innings. The win went to Jose Amancio in relief, making him now 3-1. Joel Hanrahan took the loss for St. Louis. The 'W' lifts Philadelphia's record to 57-58.
The decisive blow was delivered by Hunter Pence in the bottom of the 12th when he hit a solo home run off 30-year old right-handed pitcher Joel Hanrahan to win the game for Philadelphia. The home crowd went nuts.
"He who laughs last laughs best," Pence said, postgame.
