6-2 Loss Deepens New York Funk
|
The Minnesota Twins picked up a win at Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome, knocking off the New York Yankees, 6-2. On the mound for Minnesota was right-hander Philip Wilson, who played a pivotal role in the win. Wilson got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. Wilson allowed 2 runs. The Yankees, now 3-9, continue their slow start.
The Yankees had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Twins going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Mark Teahen came to the plate. Teahen hit a run-scoring double on a full count fastball from New York hurler Andy Pettitte. It was Teahen's 10th double of the year.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said New York skipper Ellis Burks.
