Red Sox Zip Past Spiders, 6-0
|
Benefiting from Orlando Pena's productive game, the Boston Red Sox downed the Cleveland Spiders, 6-0. Pena went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Red Sox. Jose Arredondo came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. The Red Sox saw their record improve to 45-71.
With Boston leading 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Pena hit a knuckle curve from Jeremy Johnson for a 2-run double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Red Sox ahead, 4-0.
Said losing manager Larry Rothschild: "The list goes on and on of things we just flat out didn't do."
