Philadelphia Defeats Washington, 6-2
|
The Philadelphia Phillies locked up a win at Wizards Park, knocking off the Washington Wizards, 6-2. On the mound for Philadelphia was left-hander Drew Pomeranz. He played a major role in the triumph. Washington falls to 7-5.
Philadelphia won the game in part because of Henry Wrigley. The designated hitter ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Phillies ahead, 4-0. For the game, Wrigley had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Drew throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Philadelphia manager Chris Duchesneau.
