Tigers Get Gritty, 3-2 Win
|
Detroit right-hander Jordan Zimmermann helped his team edge Kansas City by the score of 3-2. Zimmermann kept the opposing lineup in check. Detroit's record now stands at 65-47, placing them second in the AL Central Division.
Yasiel Puig was 1 for 3 for Detroit. The 21-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Brandon Pello. It was his 53rd RBI of the season.
"Jordan is a gamer," said Detroit manager Bobby Balwin.
