Cleveland Hold Off Rangers, Vasquez Picks Up 300th Save
Today was a historic day at Rangers Ballpark In Arlington in Cleveland. Once again the gifted bullpen specialist Jorge Vasquez calmly did what he has done over and over -- he saved the game for the Cleveland Spiders. The 3-0 victory over the Texas Rangers was his 300th-career save and placed his name among the great relievers in baseball. Vasquez nailed down the verdict by holding the opposition to no runs and no hits in his 1 innings.

After the final out, Vasquez dropped to his knees and pointed a thankful hand toward the sky. After the game, Vasquez told reporters, "This was in tribute to my deceased grandfather, who raised me and was such an important part of my life and upbringing. He would have been very proud of me today."

Vasquez has registered 300 saves in his career.
