White Sox Come Back Late to Clip Tigers
|
The Chicago White Sox beat the Detroit Tigers, 4-3, at Comerica Park. Chicago second baseman Adam Jones led the way. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Chicago reliever Rafael Soriano was credited with the win. His record goes to 6-1. Aaron Harang took the loss for Detroit. At 61-45, the White Sox find themselves in second place in the AL Central Division.
Chicago took advantage of an error in the top of the ninth inning. The game was tied, 3-3, when Alcides Escobar hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the White Sox in front, 4-3.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Chicago skipper Carlton Fisk. "I can't complain."
