The New York Yankees got a stellar performance from pitcher Derek Lowe, who handcuffed the Florida offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Yankee Stadium. Brad Penny, credited with the save, is now 5 for 12 in save opportunities. New York now has a record of 65-44 with the win.

In the bottom of the third, New York second baseman Dustin Pedroia had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Pedroia stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 1-0, New York. For the game, he was 1-3 with a walk, while scoring 2.
