Cardinals Sneak By Wizards, 7-6
|
St. Louis Cardinals starter Chan Ho Park was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Washington Wizards, 7-6. St. Louis reliever Marc Rzepczynski picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Pedro Feliciano was saddled with the loss. Getting the save was Fernando Rodney, his 20th.
Mark Teixeira went 2-4 with 2 singles for St. Louis. The four-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Pedro Feliciano. It was his 77th RBI of the season.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Teixeira, "and go after the next one."
With the win, St. Louis upped its record to 59-48.
