Wizards Trip Cardinals, 6-3
|
Glenn Bott, who finished 5th in the AL in innings pitched with 214.2 in 2009, was locked in. The left-hander led the Washington Wizards to a 6-3 win against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Kris Medlen, credited with the save, is now 22 for 27 in save opportunities. The win gives Washington a season record of 59-41.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Denard Span? The Washington center fielder had a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Wizards on top, 5-1. For the game, Span had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Glenn did a good job of managing their lineup," said Washington manager Rich Hinton.
