Phillies Earn 7-6 Win Against Marlins
|
The Philadelphia Phillies snuck past the Florida Marlins, 7-6, in 10 innings. Philadelphia first baseman Evan Longoria, in particular, had a standout performance. The win went to Jorge Buret in relief, making him now 3-1. Brian Wilson took the loss for Florida. Kirby Yates was credited with the save, his 22nd in 25 tries.
It could have been a different outcome for Philadelphia, had it not been for Henry Wrigley, the 25-year old first baseman . Wrigley contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the tenth inning to put Philadelphia up, 7-6.
"I felt good up there," said Wrigley. "I saw the ball well."
With the victory, the Phillies upped their record to 50-49.
