Braves Drop Cardinals, 4-0
|
Atlanta picked up a win at Turner Field, toppling the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-0. Pitcher Homer Bailey was one of the reasons the Braves triumphed. The winning pitcher was Bailey, now 8-3. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. The Braves now own a record of 54-45.
Atlanta took a 3-0 lead on Eric Byrnes's 18th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Byrnes hit in the bottom of the eighth, left St. Louis pitcher Marc Rzepczynski shaking his head.
"I liked his command," said Atlanta manager Luis Quintana. "Homer was throwing strikes."
