Late Rally by Brewers Locks Up 6-2 Win
|
Zach Phillips, who is tied for 8th in the AL in complete games with 1, had a strong outing for the Milwaukee Brewers against the Boston Red Sox at Miller Park. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 6-2 win. The last-place Brewers hiked their record to 44-57.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Arturo Rios came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Boston pitcher Mike Crudale, he hit a 2-0 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Milwaukee on top, 3-2.
Rios called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
