Late Offense Lifts Cleveland to 5-3 Victory
|
Jeremy Bonderman, who finished 5th in the AL in innings pitched with 216.2 in 2006, was locked in. The right-hander led the Cleveland Spiders to a 5-3 win against the Toronto Blue Jays at Skydome. Bonderman yielded 2 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 9. His record improves to 1-1. Jorge Vasquez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save.
Shin-Soo Choo dealt the Blue Jays a blow in the top of the eighth. Batting with the bases loaded and Cleveland leading 3-2, Choo hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Choo told the Cleveland Today. "And padding the Cleveland win column."
The win leaves Cleveland with a record of 6-5.
