Raucous Yankee Stadium Crowd Propels Yankees to 2-1 Victory; Series Tied at 2
|
The New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox will take the Divisional Series to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Yankees beat the White Sox 2-1 at Yankee Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. New York right-hander Ryan Vogelsong had a big role in the win. He threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball.
Had Brandon Wood not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Wood hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Yankees.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Vogelsong.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Yankee Stadium in New York.
