Wilson, Mounties Come Up Short in Bid for Road Win; Yankees Take 2-1 Series Lead
|
When the games really matter, the New York Yankees put on their best show, beating the Vancouver Mounties by a final score of 2-1. C J Wilson threw 9.0 innings of 4-hit ball. New York now leads Vancouver 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.
The decisive blow was delivered by Kendry Morales in the bottom of the 15th when he hit a run-scoring double off 24-year old left-handed pitcher Lucas Luetge to win the game for New York. The home crowd went nuts.
"The competition leap this year was tough to adjust to and I feel like there has been another jump in the playoffs," said Morales, a rookie this season. "You're only playing the best now and everyone has time to rest and prepare for you."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Yankee Stadium in New York.
