Royals Suffer 3-1 Home Loss
|
Chicago pitcher Clint Brannon did his part in helping his team beat the Kansas City Royals, 3-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winning pitcher was Brannon, now 8-4. He tossed 5 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 2. Scott Strickland finished to wrap up his 20th save.
Chicago relied on the hitting of Vladimir Guerrero to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the fourth inning to put the White Sox on top, 1-0. For the game, Guerrero had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Every loss hurts," said Kansas City manager Dusty Baker. "But this was a tough one."
Chicago is first in the AL Central Division with a record of 48-45.
