Yankees Edge Past Marlins, 5-4
|
The New York Yankees and Florida Marlins put on quite a show.
The New York Yankees beat the Florida Marlins, 5-4, in 12 innings. New York pitcher and Denton, Texas, native Javy Guerra led the way. New York reliever Juan Aquino picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Jose Jimenez absorbed the loss.
New York used the timely hitting of Matt Kemp to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Yankees on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Guerra.
The second-place Yankees now have a win-loss record of 46-40.
