Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Dodgers
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a superb performance from pitcher Josh Beckett. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Los Angeles. The Dodgers won the game, 5-4. Beckett threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Kyle Crowell, now 4-4, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. Their 49-36 record puts the Dodgers second in the NL West Division.
The Dodgers were down to their final out when second baseman Gordon Beckham turned a 0-2 curveball from Jake Peavy into a 2-run single. The walk-off single made the Dodger Stadium crowd go wild.
"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Beckham said.
