Spiders Win Squeaker, 3-2, Over Mets
|
Cleveland Spiders starter Steve Woodard turned in a sterling performance against the New York Mets, leading his team to a slim, 3-2 win. Daigoro Rondon picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Andy Cavazos suffered the loss. Cleveland is second in the AL East Division with a record of 38-46.
Cleveland used the timely hitting of Victor Martinez to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Spiders on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager K.P. Paull.
