Cubs Lose Late, 4-2
|
The Atlanta Braves stopped the Chicago Cubs, 4-2, behind an impressive performance from Esteban Armelini. The 23-year old first baseman made life miserable for Chicago pitching. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Atlanta now sits in first place in the NL Central Division at 48-36.
Armelini had a timely hit for Atlanta in the bottom of the eighth. With Chicago trailing 2-1, he turned a 1-0 curveball into a 2-run home run. It was his 19th home run of the season, making it 3-2, Atlanta.
After the game, Atlanta manager Luis Quintana applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
