Cubs Take Down Cardinals, 4-1
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a superb performance from pitcher Andrew Miller. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Chicago. The Cubs won the game, 4-1. Miller threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Chicago pitcher Heriberto Yepiz got the win, upping his record to 2-3. A J Burnett got the loss. The win makes Chicago 37-37.
Maicer Izturis, the former first round draft pick , had a direct impact on the outcome. Izturis contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning to put Chicago up, 2-1.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Izturis said.
