Night Riders Dominate, Sweep Wildcard Series
|
It's a sweet sweep for the Afton Night Riders and they have won the Wildcard Series. The St. Petersburg Royals were not able to keep pace with the Night Riders and dropped the series in short order, losing 5-2 in the deciding game.
"This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said St. Petersburg manager .
It's now on to the Division Series for Afton after their 2-0 series win.
Leading the way for the winners was catcher Jonathan Hoy, who was named MVP. For the series, Hoy hit .500 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 1 runs.
The Afton Night Riders will play against the Despard Knighthawks in the next round. Despard had a bye in the Wildcard Series. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.
