Rainiers Cruise to League Championship Series with Sweep Sunday, September 16th , 2007 The Aurora Rainiers proved to be too much to handle for the Londontowne Salukis in the Division Series, and a sweep was the end result. Aurora punched its ticket to the League Championship Series on the strength of a 8-7 win in the deciding game, which wrapped up the series 3-0. Aurora first baseman John Stiefel, named series MVP, was instrumental in the sweep, as he mashed Londontowne pitching to the tune of a .500 average, with a .556 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 1 runs. The Aurora Rainiers will play against the Mussel Shoals Freedom in the next round. Mussel Shoals won their series against the Augusta Sundevils 3 games to 0. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes. |
