Wednesday, August 29th , 2001
The news was not unexpected, but that didn't make it easier to accept for the Pasadena Hills Klondikes: reliever Troy Mattes is out for the year. Mattes suffered an arthritic elbow on 08/28/2001. The team knew that the chances of seeing him return were slim to none. But today it was made official.
Taking a look at his season stats for 2001, Mattes has made 42 relief appearances, recorded 3 saves and compiled a 1-5 won-lost mark with a 4.05 ERA. In pitching 60 innings, he has totaled 39 strikeouts and 18 walks.
