Barrage of Hits Gets Sandberg SL2 Award Monday, May 31st , 2004 Not every ball that came off Jared Sandberg's bat last week was a line drive or a towering shot -- it just seemed that way to the teams that played the North Hempstead Federals. For his exploits, Sandberg was named this week's Sub League 2 Player of the Week award. The North Hempstead third baseman put up 8 hits in 26 at-bats and 5 home runs while hitting .308 with 9 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Thus far this season in 40 games, Sandberg is batting .319 with 9 home runs, 21 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He has 44 hits in 138 at-bats. |
