Rivermen Snap Fick Streak at 21
Friday, July 13th , 2007
Late in the game, all eyes in Fenway Park were on Robert Fick as he stepped into the batter box. His 21-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Fick, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end.
If there was a silver lining for Fick, it was that his Chandler Red Sox won the game anyway, stopping the Fremont Rivermen by the score of 3-2.
"Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Fick told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 21 straight games. It's something I will always remember."
This season, Fick is batting .360 with 1 home run.
