Orioles Move on to World Series Wednesday, October 17th , 2001 The Baltimore Orioles have booked their place in the World Series. By a score of 8-6, the club ousted the Kansas City Royals in the League Championship Series tonight at Royals Stadium. Baltimore won the series by a 4-2 margin. The series MVP was Orioles shortstop Edgar Renteria. For his part, the MVP said he is not putting too much stock in the individual honor and instead simply "looking forward to the next round." The Baltimore Orioles will play against the San Francisco Giants in the next round. San Francisco won their series against the New York Mets 4 games to 0.
