Getting offensive support from Ty Wigginton, the Montreal Expos topped the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-4. Wigginton went 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Expos. Kazuhiro Sasaki was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 20 of 20 save opportunities. Montreal raised its record to 41-28 with the win.

Wigginton delivered in the bottom of the sixth inning for Montreal. With the game tied and the bases loaded, the third baseman hit a grand slam home run to center.
