Phillies Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0
The Philadelphia Phillies are one game away from a sweep of the League Championship Series after stifling the San Francisco Giants by a score of 3-0 at Veterans Stadium today. Phillies right-hander Billy Toy had a strong performance. He threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball. Philadelphia now holds a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 series.

Toy, a native of Elizabeth, New Jersey, was dealing all game. He kept San Francisco hitters off-balance, while giving the Phillies 7.1 quality innings. Toy threw 102 pitches, allowing 1 hit and striking out 6.

"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Toy said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia.
