Montreal Expos starter Joel Pineiro hurled his team past the Cincinnati Reds, 2-1. The winner was Montreal reliever Kazuhiro Sasaki, now 1-0. The loser was Zach Bowen. The win has Montreal at 4-1.

The Expos procured the win, in large part because of right fielder Jay Buhner. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Expos manager Daniel Blanton.
