San Francisco right-hander Pedro Martinez pitched his team to victory over the Atlanta Braves at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. The final score was 3-2. Martinez yielded 1 run over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 8-3. With the win, San Francisco upped its record to 34-22.
The Giants got a big at-bat from third baseman Adrian Beltre. For the game, Beltre was 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 20th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 2-0 lead.
