Cubs Top Giants to Even Record
|
The Chicago Cubs defeated the San Francisco Giants, 6-3, in NL action at Wrigley Field. Chicago pitcher Fernando Roman had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Roman, now 1-3. He tossed 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 2. With the win, Chicago raised its record to 21-21.
The Cubs got an important contribution from left fielder Geoff Jenkins, who in the bottom of the third punched a first pitch sinker into right for a 3-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Cubs ahead, 4-0.
"Today was a lot of fun," said Jenkins.
