Jones 5-for-6 Against Blue Jays
|
New York Yankees left fielder Jacque Jones had a day to remember at Yankee Stadium today, ripping apart the Toronto Blue Jays and sparking the Yankees to a 11-6 victory.
Jones wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Jones told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Jacque Jones doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Ryan Hancock in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.
Jones is currently batting .302 with 8 home runs, 26 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has 54 hits in 179 at-bats.
