The New York Yankees downed the Seattle Mariners, 9-2, at Kingdome. The Yankees were led by Kevin Millar. He was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. The Yankees have an impressive 23-12 record.

The game turned with one out in the top of the sixth when Millar, who finished 3rd in the AL in extra base hits with 85 last year, hit a 2-run single. It propelled the Yankees into the lead, 2-0.
