Loss to Mariners Extends Minnesota Losing Streak
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins.

Seattle got a strong outing from Ben Sheets as the Mariners defeated the Minnesota Twins, 3-1, at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. Sheets picked up the win for Seattle, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 7-3.

The Mariners got a big at-bat from right fielder Nelson Cruz. For the game, Cruz went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Seattle a 2-0 lead.

"We take it day by day here," said Cruz, "and today was a good one for us."

Seattle raised its record to 81-62 with the win.
