Sosa Pounds HR #400
|
San Francisco's 8-4 victory over New York was highlighted by Sammy Sosa's 400th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases.
"I didn't see all of them out there," Sosa said with a chuckle, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!"
In 4 at-bats the Giants center fielder collected 2 hits in his historic game, scored 2 runs, and had 3 RBI.
Sosa has put up a career batting average of .251 with 1578 hits, 401 homers and 1097 RBIs.
