Mariners Mow Down Brewers, 9-4
|
The Seattle Mariners spoiled a good performance by Milwaukee center fielder Melky Cabrera, bumping off Milwaukee, 9-4, at County Stadium. Cabrera went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Scott Baker picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 5-5. With the win, Seattle goes to 44-46, while the Brewers fall to 43-47.
Early in the game, designated hitter Joey Votto had a 2-run home run for Seattle. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Mariners on top, 3-1.
"Winning never gets dull," said Votto.
