When Alexis Vazquez jogged in from the bullpen this season, opposing teams knew they were going to have a tough time putting up runs.

The
Fort Wayne TinCaps reliever turned in a dominant campaign and has been named the Midwest League Reliever of the Year winner for 2039.

His award-winning season saw the bullpen ace get 4 saves in 39 relief appearances, 109 strikeouts in 76.1 innings and only 31 walks. He had a record of 3 wins and 2 losses to go with his 1.77 ERA.

"I hope I can pitch like this every year," he said.

He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 16. Robby George of the Great Lakes Loons finished second in voting with 7 first place votes, while Ricky Villacis of the Cedar Rapids Kernels finished third with 2 first place votes.
