4-Game Suspensions for Dowdle-Barajas Fight Monday, September 5th , 2039 Tempers were flaring yesterday at Olympic Stadium. Both the Expos and Red Sox were defending their turf. A few punches were thrown, but fortunately very few landed -- there was more wrestling than fighting. When the umpires sorted everything out, Montreal's Steve Dowdle and Boston's Oscar Barajas were ejected from the game. Today the league office suspended Dowdle and Barajas for 4 games each. This year Dowdle is hitting .228 with 20 home runs. For the season Barajas is 0-and-0 with 1 save and a 5.92 ERA. He has given up 31 hits in 24.1 innings with 16 strikeouts. |
