Pena Belts 5 Hits Saturday, August 27th , 2039 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Erick Pena today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Petco Park and paced the Nationals to a 7-5 win over the San Diego Padres. After his dynamite batting performance, the Washington center fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 8 tries and put his name in the record book. Erick Pena doubled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, struck out in the 8th, singled in the 11th, hit an RBI single in the 12th and struck out in the 13th.
