Cazares Stakes Claim to Fame, Hits .404 Friday, August 12th , 2039 His grandfather once told Juan Cazares he should set high goals for himself. The Puebla left fielder has done that throughout his baseball life, beginning as a youngster. "I hit something like .650 one season when I was a kid," he recalled. "Still, I thought I could have done better." Now Cazares, who finished 3rd in the in batting average with .404 in 2039, has done what few before him have accomplished: He has become a .400 hitter for a single season. Reflecting on his phenomenal year, with a sly grin, Cazares said, "I think I could have gotten a few more hits." The Pericos star, who finished at .404, collected 116 hits including 22 doubles, 7 triples and 15 home runs. He also had 74 RBIs and scored 72 runs. |
