Guevara's Hit Streak Over Sunday, July 31st , 2039 Maybe it really is taboo to talk about a hitting streak before it's over. Hours after speaking to the press about his 21-game hitting streak, Aguascalientes third baseman Tony Guevara went hitless in 1 at-bat today at Estadio De Centenario 27 de Febrero. The sudden hitting drought came as the Rieleros took the 7-3 win over the Tabasco Olmecas. "Nope, it's not magic," Guevara said in his postgame press conference. "Nobody jinxed me. Streaks don't last forever. I've heard about it every day for weeks now. My roomie told me to get a hit before every game and wished me luck. I just ran out of hits." During the current season Guevara is batting at a .342 clip with 5 home runs and 26 RBIs. He has played in 45 games and scored 35 times. |
